Life Magazine's Civil War photos...astounding

I was born and raised in historic Hagerstown, Maryland. I am proud to be from a place deeply rooted in the American Civil War past and tinged in gothic charm. Growing up there was boring at times, but everything is filled with a history that is captivating to come back to even if it is amidst local yokels. My friends and I drove around...a lot. I have frequented Antietam National Battlefield many times and have even seen and photographed ghosts there. At merely 148 years ago, this turning point in America proved to be the bloodiest moment in it's short history with 620,000 soldiers dead (without the account of civilians and slaves).  Here are some beautiful and slightly disturbing scenes from the first photographed war, via Life Magazine, on Google. Everyone should view these.
